English Grammar in Hindi : Basic things to start from

Let’s start from the basics of English - Hindi grammar. There are 26 Alphabets in English Grammar. There are 5 vowels among them and the other alphabets are consonant.  The Hindi spellings of the alphabets are mentioned below:


Types of Sentences :

Considering the meaning of the sentences, there are 8 types of sentences in English Grammar –

1. Declarative or Simple Sentences (विधिवाचक वाक्य)
Ex: I am going to eat (मैं खाने जा रहा हूँ

2. Imperative or Command Sentences (निषेधवाचक वाक्य)
Ex: Bring me something to eat (मुझे कुछ खाने के लिए लाओ)

3. Interrogative or Question Sentences (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य)
Ex: When we are going out? (हम कब बाहर जा रहे हैं?)

4. Exclamatory Sentences (विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्य)
Ex: Happy Birthday Ram! (जन्मदिन मुबारक हो राम!)

5. Imperative Sentence (आज्ञावाचक वाक्य)
Ex: Shut the window. (खिडकी बंद करो।)

6. Skeptical Sentence (संदेहवाचक वाक्य)
Ex: Maybe we will go to Mumbai. (शायद हम मुंबई जाएंगे।)

7. Wishful Sentence (इच्छावाचक वाक्य)
Ex: May you find happiness. (आपको खुशी मिले।)

8. Indicative Sentence (संकेतवाचक वाक्य)
Ex: The sky is clear tonight. (आज रात आसमान साफ ​​है।)

Considering the construction of the sentences, there are 3 types of sentences in English Grammar

1. Simple Sentences (सरल वाक्य)
Ex: A boy was playing. (एक लड़का खेल रहा था।)

2. Complex Sentences (मिश्रित वाक्य)
Ex: A boy was playing and a girl was reading. एक लड़का खेल रहा था और एक लड़की पढ़ रही थी

3.Compound Sentences (संयुक्त वाक्य)
Ex: Whenever it rains, I like to wear my yellow coat. (जब भी बारिश होती है, मैं मेरा पीला कोट पहनना पसंद करता हु।)

Parts of Speech:

Parts Of Speech . English Grammar

Based on the uses and functions, words are divided into 8 different categories known as the Parts of Speech. These parts of speech are –

Noun (संज्ञा)

The name of person, things or places is called as Noun. In Hindi Nouns are also known as sangya (संज्ञा).

pen, dog, work, music, town, London, teacher, John etc. (जैसे: कलम, कुत्ता, काम, संगीत, नगर, लंदन, शिक्षक, जॉन आदि।)

Pronoun (सर्वनाम)

Pronoun is the word used as a substitution of a noun. In Hind, pronouns are called as sarvanam (सर्वनाम).

Ex: I, you, he, she, some etc. (जैसे: मैं, आप, वह, वह, कुछ आदि।)

Adjective (विशेषण)

Adjective (विशेषण) are used to give additional information about the noun (sangya) or the pronoun (sarvanam).

Ex: good, big, red, well, interesting etc. (जैसे: अच्छा, बड़ा, लाल, अच्छा, दिलचस्प आदि।)

Verb (क्रिया)

Verb is the word that indicates the work done by the noun or Pronoun. In Hindi, the verb is known as kriya (क्रिया).

Ex: (to) be, have, do, like, work, sing, can, must etc. (उदा: (को) होना, होना, होना, जैसे, काम, गाना, कैन, मस्ट आदि।)

Adverb (क्रिया-विशेषण)

Adverb is the word used to give additional information about the verb that is done by the noun or the pronoun.  In Hindi, the adverb is known as kriya-visheshan (क्रिया-विशेषण).

Ex: quickly, silently, well, badly, very, really etc. (जैसे: जल्दी, चुपचाप, ठीक, बुरी तरह, बहुत, वास्तव में आदि।)

Preposition (सम्बंधसूचक शब्द)

Preposition is a word, used alongside with a noun or pronoun. Preposition describes the relationship between the nouns, verbs, and adjectives. It expresses the relationship of a noun or pronoun with some other noun or pronoun.

Ex: to, at, after, on, but etc. (जैसे: पर, पर, बाद, पर आदि।)

Conjunction (संयोजक)

Conjunctions are the words which are used for joining two sentences or parts of sentences. These words are known as conjunction.

Ex: and, but, when etc. (जैसे: और, लेकिन, जब आदि।)

Interjection (विस्मयसूचक शब्द)

Interjections are the words that are used to express sudden emotions. These sudden feelings or emotions originate due to sudden joy or grief etc.

These kind of words or phrases contains an exclamation mark ( ! ).

Ex: oh!, ouch!, hi!, well etc. (जैसे: ओह !, आउच !, हाय !, ठीक है आदि।)
